Dear Parents and Carers
I wanted to write to you with news of the return of our Deputy Head Teacher, Miss Pooley, who has been on maternity leave since the end of January but will be returning to work on Monday 12th December.
Miss Pooley was going to return to her role in Y3/4, but due to Mrs Platts leaving at Christmas she will now move into Y5/6 and job share Sycamore Class with Mrs Leigh. Miss Pooley will be taking up her role as full time deputy head so the rest of her timetable will be filled with her management tasks, working with me and the rest of our senior leadership team to ensure Greythorn is continually improving.
Miss Pooley will spend her first week working alongside Mrs Leigh and Mrs Platts, getting to know the class. She will also work in other classrooms to get up to speed with the changes that have happened in Greythorn while she has been away. Along with other senior leaders, she will be working with me to put into action the plan we have to ensure that children at Greythorn achieve as well in writing as they do in other subjects.
Mrs Ireland will stay on in Beech class, as their full time teacher. Mrs Ireland has built a good relationship with this class over the term and will continue to ensure they make good progress for the rest of the year.
Finally Mrs Cox, who has done a great job as acting deputy head while Miss Pooley has been away, will revert to her role as leader for maths, with some additional responsibilities for behaviour and pupil premium.
We are very lucky to have such a willing and adaptable staff team. I know that all the teachers have the well-being and progress of the children at heart and I am grateful to them for their commitment to Greythorn.
With best wishes
