Homework

Read, read, read!

The one thing you can do that has the greatest impact on your child's learning and progress is to listen to them read daily and read high quality story books to them alongside this. We ask that children read at least 5 times a week- this can be for as little as 5 minutes. Your child will receive one book to read at home each week with the aim that they become fluent and confident in reading the text by the end of the week. They will also be able to choose a high quality book for you to read to them at home- this can be changed as often as they like. Please record in your child's reading record every time they read.

Spellings

Your child will receive a spelling list each week- these will be sent out via text message every Friday. There will be a spelling test each Friday on these words. You will also receive a paper copy which will highlight any words your child found tricky the previous week. We suggest practising these words regularly but try to keep it fun by using different coloured pens, magnetic letters, spelling games online and spelling them out loud.

Maths

Each Friday we will have an arithmetic session and children will complete a quiz on number bonds, times tables etc. There is a copy of the overview for the Autumn Term below so you know what you child can be practising at home.
