Handwriting
We teach handwriting daily in Key Stage One. Each session last around 10 minutes; we model the letter formation on the board using a set of sayings that we use across school and then the children have a go themselves in their handwriting books. We firstly concentrate on ensuring the children start and end the letters in the correct place and hold their pencil correctly before moving on to correct letter size and joining.
See below for an overview of which letters and joins we teach each week and a document which has the 'little sayings' we use to describe to formation of each letter.
